SCOTT CORNWALL COLOUR RESTORE ICED PLATINUM REVIEW

So I thought I'd do a review on a toner I've used a few times in the past and have recently come back to. A few years ago I went from from dark (and I mean dark!) dyed brown hair to blonde in a very short amount of time... NOT a good idea. I won't go into too much detail but I was left with a lot of yellow and orangey tones. Every girls nightmare right?

Anyway, I tried a lot of toners to try and fix my problem and nothing seemed to work. Including top brands like Aveda. Although i'll admit it was all my fault for going blonde so quickly, I was still so frustrated I couldn't find a decent toner. Finally, I came across this product in Boots. I came home to do some research before applying it and found overall good reviews. So, with my plastic gloves on, I coated my hair with the stuff and left it to do its thing.

YESS! I washed and dried my hair and the yellow was gone! Even the stubborn dark orange tones had lightened. I was so shocked. Nothing had ever worked this well before. So.. Long story short, after a about a year and a half of being blonde I made the decision to go back brown. My hair was so damaged from the previous bleaching it had pretty much fallen out. So, I waited and waited, and finally my hair is back to the condition where I was able to be blonde again. 2 YEARS! But this time, I did it the right way. Now that I'm back to blonde I've decided to return to this beauty. At £12.99 for 100ml it's not exactly cheap, but it definitely does the job.

There are 3 ways you can use the product. Personally, I always use option 3 as it gets the best results. You need to start by washing your hair with shampoo (preferably a clarifying one because creamier ones can stop the toner from working). Then follow by towel drying your hair.

The product comes with one pair of plastic gloves, which I'd recommend using as the toner has a very strong colour. With my mid-long length hair I tend to use about one and a half of these sized blobs. When you first put the toner in, it doesn't seem like a lot, but it thickens out and actually goes a very long way. Since it's a creamy consistency, I don't find it dries out my hair like a lot of other toners. It's got the same feel as a deep conditioning mask, which is great because you don't have to condition your hair afterwards.

After the 5 minutes of combing, I leave my hair in a clip to keep it out of the way. When the time is up, all you need to do is wash your hair until the water runs clear. You need to make sure that the water is luke warm however, because hot water can open up the cuticles and run the colour out. These are my results after drying my hair:

As you can see, the dark orange tones have definitely lightened up. I didn't use any other products or heat styling so I could show you the real results and how fabulous it is! The toner actually leaves an amazing shine on the hair and gives it a very silky feel. If your looking for a great toner that doesn't leave your hair dry, AND actually works... this is definitely a great option.
